Dr. Penny Beattie has been a nurse for the past 42 years; starting her career as a LPN in general med/surg inpatient care. In addition, she has worked in the following areas of healthcare as a staff nurse: maximum security psychiatric unit, pediatrics, ICU, Emergency/Trauma and as a flight nurse. Penny has held the role of staff nurse, charge nurse, educator, Director of Emergency Flight Services, Director of Nursing Women and Children Services and Service Line Administrator and currently is the Chief Nursing Officer for Presbyterian Hospital; the flagship hospital of the fully integrated system, Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Penny has worked in four states across multiple health systems. Not only has her clinical career been diverse so has her educational path. Penny obtained her certificate in practical nursing from Rochester School of Practical Nursing (Mayo Clinic), Rochester, Minnesota, associate degree in nursing (ADN) from Iowa Central Community College, bachelors degree in nursing (BSN) from University of Phoenix, masters degree in business administration (MBA) from University of New Mexico Anderson School of Business and her doctor of nursing practice (DNP) from the University of Pittsburgh. Penny is originally from Minnesota and is married with three adult children and two grandsons.
