Sheila Thorne

A former senior executive in five preeminent public relations and advertising agencies, Sheila Thorne is President & CEO of New York-based Multicultural Healthcare Marketing Group.  Fluent in three languages, she has been recognized as one of the key thought leaders in multicultural healthcare marketing and is a cross-cultural and cultural competency educator. On behalf of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies, she has worked in communities of color throughout North America, Latin America and Western Europe. She is Associate Clinical Professor at Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac University School of Medicine and is a frequent guest lecturer on ethnic media, cultural competency in healthcare delivery, and healthcare disparities at New York University and Rutgers University. For more than two decades, Sheila has received numerous awards for her unique ability to build and mobilize coalitions of color and galvanize communities of color around social justice and health equity issues.
